Schedule 11/30-12/4

Image
I revised the schedule to more accurately reflect the phased dismissal schedule. In essence, the zoom calls end somewhere between 2:15-2:30 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday is longer due to PE.  This allows the school to start its phased dismissal. Depending on the age of their siblings at school, some 7th graders leave at 2:30 and then another group at 2:45 and finally the rest of the class at 3 PM. On Friday, we will have a coordinating zoom call at 8:30 AM to go over assignments for that day. This is the planned structure going forward.

HYBRID Learning and Weekly Schedule

Starting Monday the 16th, I will have half the students at school and the other half at home. Starting times have moved forward from 8:30 AM to 8 AM. No excuses. Mrs. Fitzpatrick has made it clear that anyone signing on to a Zoom call at 8:01 AM will be marked tardy.   Dismissal is staggered at school depending on whether a student has siblings or not. In general, zoom calls will end at 2:10 PM except Wednesday when music runs to 2:25 PM. There will be minimal zoom calls on Friday although some work will be provided. The work provided will usually be due at 3 PM that day. Detention: We will start holding detention sessions at 1 PM on Friday when the rest of the class is given time to do Aleks. Everyone who has received even one detention will be on this week's detention Zoom session. Students will be given an assignment that should take approximately 30 minutes. If the student fails to complete the assignment or turns in substandard work, they will need to repeat the detentio...

Next Book for Lit

Image
The students have finished The Hunger Games. Our next book is a non-fiction biography of Alexander Hamilton, that is kind of a junior high version of the book by Ron Chernow that the famous musical was based upon.  The students need to have a copy or e-copy by Monday, November 2nd. Good news: You don't have to buy it because I have copies for everyone.  Bad news: Of course, picking the book up is the issue.  I told the students that I'm willing to pass them out during office hours from 2-3 PM this coming Tuesday and Thursday.  I will pass them out at my house located at 254 Wilshire Ave. in Daly City. It's basically across the golf course from the school.   Each book is numbered so if you want to pick one up for friends, please just let me know the name when you pick yours up.   For those who live too far away to make this a practicable solution, I am attaching a copy of the cover with the author's name to assist you. I bought most of my copies on Ama...
